Ernest Wilhelm Hengstenberg (October 20, 1802 Fröndenberg
- Mai 28, 1869, Berlin) was a German protestant theologian
and an expert on the Old Testament. In 1826 he became Professor
Extraordinarius in theology, a position he held for most of
his life. In July 1827 he took on the editorship of the 'Evangelische
Kirchenzeitung', a strictly orthodox journal.
